U4GM: Monopoly GO Railroad Attack Guide

Post by Andrew736 »

A well-timed Shutdown can do more than knock a landmark down. It can boost your cash total, push tournament progress, and make a high-multiplier roll feel worthwhile. While planning dice and event activity, the Monopoly Go Partners Event is another feature many regular players keep an eye on. For Shutdown runs, though, the main thing is knowing when you can choose the city you visit instead of settling for whoever appears first.

Start from the Railroad

You do not open Shutdown from a separate menu. It begins when your token lands on a Railroad space during normal board play. The game then takes you away from your own city and shows a target board. At first, that board usually belongs to a player selected by the game. Before tapping a landmark, pause for a second. The lower part of the screen has the Switch Opponent button, and that is where the useful choices begin.

Target option What it is useful for
Current player A quick attempt when you do not want to spend time looking.
Friends Picking a known player and checking their city for exposed landmarks.
Revenge Answering damage from a player who previously hit your city.

Choose a friend deliberately

After pressing Switch Opponent, open the Friends tab rather than the Revenge tab. Your connected players will appear in a list, so scroll until you find the person you want. It is simple, but plenty of people rush this screen and hit the first building they see. A more careful approach is better, especially if your dice multiplier is high. You are putting more value behind that one result, so a shielded target can feel like a waste.

Make each tap count

Once you enter a friend's city, look over the landmarks before choosing one. A shield can stop the hit and leave you with a smaller return. Buildings with smoke around them have already taken damage, which often makes them worth noticing. There is no perfect pick every time, of course. Still, checking the board beats tapping at random. Use this short routine when the Shutdown screen appears.

Land on a Railroad space.
Open Switch Opponent.
Select Friends and choose a city.
Check for shields, smoke, and damaged landmarks.
Tap a landmark and collect the result.

Expect a response

Shutdown is a two-way part of Monopoly GO. When you damage someone's property, they receive a notice and may come after your city later through Revenge. That back-and-forth is part of what keeps the board lively. Keep shields ready when you can, and do not leave a nearly finished city unprotected for long. If you are also sorting out event plans, Monopoly Go Partners Event buy information may be useful alongside your usual dice strategy, but smart target selection still comes down to timing, observation, and a little nerve.
